Medical Careers Continue to Dominate Flexible Job Openings into Holidays
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) November 04, 2011
Professionals in five particular fields have something to be thankful for this month: the potential to get hired. FlexJobs, the leading job service for telecommute, part-time, freelance, and other flexible job listings, has just released its Flexible Job Index (FJI) data for October 2011, and the top five career fields with the most available jobs are:
1. Medical & Health – 8.0%
2. Computer & IT – 5.9%
3. Sales – 5.5%
4. Web & Software Dev – 5.2%
5. Administrative – 5.1%
In terms of job category growth, these career fields had the most dramatic increases in available postings in October:
1. Call Center – 31% increase
2. Data Entry – 27.4% increase
3. Bilingual – 19.9% increase
In addition, Entry-Level jobs were up 26.5% and Manager positions are up 17%.
“We are feeling positive about the growth in the job postings for these professional fields,” Sara Sutton Fell, CEO of FlexJobs shared. “Generally, companies tend to start slowing their hiring process down as the holidays approach, but we’re thankfully not seeing that trend yet.”
However, in contrast to some of the increases, there were also some drops in job volume in some fields, including:
Internet & Ecommerce – 38.14% decrease
Bus Dev – 18.70% decrease
Nonprofit & Philanthropy – 16.97% decrease
Education & Training – 13.79% decrease
Insurance – 12.29% decrease
“We are surprised to see Ecommerce jobs go down,” said Fell. “It will be interesting to see if those available positions pick up again this month in preparation for holiday online shopping.”
The ongoing Flexible Job Index report demonstrates the growing diversity in the employment market for flexible jobs, and provides reliable data on top career fields that offer work flexibility. Data includes positions listed on the site directly by employers as well as jobs found by FlexJobs’ trained staff of researchers who scour hundreds of online sources, including industry blogs, employer websites, job boards, job feeds, and more. Only professional jobs that can both be confirmed as legitimate and as having some kind of work flexibility (telecommuting, part-time or flexible schedule, or freelance contracts) are included in the FlexJobs’ job database.
